ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our Medical Intensive Care Unit for day shifts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in critical care nursing and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Position Details

• Shift: 3×12 Hour Days (06:30 – 19:00)
• First-timers accepted: Yes, with at least 2 years of experience
• Weekends Required: Yes
• Float Required: Yes, occasional floating to telemetry units may be necessary based on patient census
• Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2-week period

Unit Information

This unit cares for medically complex and critically ill patients with conditions such as:

• Respiratory failure requiring noninvasive or mechanical ventilation
• Post-central venous line (CVL) placement
• Cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management (TTM)
• Multisystem organ failure and various shock states
• Cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) post-thrombolysis
• COVID-19, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Alcohol withdrawal

The standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1, but it may increase to 4:1 when there are boarders waiting for transfer to inpatient units.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care nursing

Additional Information

All staff are supported by a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on every shift. This is a demanding environment where nurses will engage in frequent procedures, including bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube placements, rapid sequence intubation, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and code blue interventions. Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Scrub color is flexible, excluding reddish-orange, and charting is conducted using EPIC. On-site parking is provided at no cost.
