Nursing Supervisor

Job Description

Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Nursing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing hospital operations. This role involves coordinating age-appropriate patient care activities in the absence of the CNO and ensuring the application of facility standards, policies, and procedures. The Nursing Supervisor will manage nursing care activities within the nursing services when Unit Directors are unavailable and provide comprehensive management of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Supervise overall operations during assigned shifts.
• Coordinate patient care activities and ensure adherence to standards and protocols.
• Provide leadership and support to nursing staff in person and through effective communication.
• Assist in conflict resolution and problem-solving among staff.
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
• Support the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
• Act swiftly and efficiently in emergency situations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Maine or authorization to practice pending licensure by endorsement.
• Basic Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
• Minimum of four years of acute care experience.
• Demonstrated clinical proficiency in providing age-appropriate patient care using the nursing process.
• Strong communications, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to function independently and effectively manage critical situations.

Work Schedule

This position involves working 36 hours per week with 12-hour shifts, primarily during night hours.
