Cardiac/Intermediate Care Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to join our team in the Cardiac/Intermediate Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Post Critical Care and Telemetry environments, focusing on patient care and monitoring for a range of cardiac conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for a 36-bed unit with 1:4 to 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Monitor and assess the well-being of patients experiencing various cardiac conditions, including CHF, NSTEMI, heart block, bradycardia, and post-surgical recovery.
• Administer medications and titratable drips (e.g., amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitroglycerin, and insulin).
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals, including a Charge Nurse and dedicated telemetry monitor techs, to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Perform necessary procedures and interventions as per medical protocols and best practices.
• Document patient progress and coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Post Critical Care, Stepdown, or Telemetry setting.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA or APEX).
• Experience with TAVR and CABG is preferred.
• Must have previously completed at least one traveling assignment in a similar role.

Shift Information

This position requires night shifts from 1845 to 0715. A commitment to working 4 weekend days per month and 3 out of 5 holidays is expected.

Unit Details

• Type: Cardiac/Intermediate Care (Stepdown)
• Bed Capacity: 36 beds
• Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, low blood pressure, sepsis, and post-surgical cases.

Duties of Support Staff

• Patient care techs (PCTs) will assist nurses with patient needs, maintaining ratios of 8-12 patients per tech.
• RNs will manage the care of patients with the support of available staff, ensuring efficient workflow and patient management.

Dress Code

The required scrub color is navy blue. Scrubs are not provided.

Orientation and Professional Development

New hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation that includes 1 day of unit-specific orientation, 1 day of clinical education, and 1 day on the floor.
