Registered Nurse II (RNII) – MedSurg/Tele Float Pool

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Registered Nurse II for a MedSurg/Tele Float Pool position. This role requires dedication and proficiency in various nursing practices, specifically within a telemetry environment.

Job Overview

The RN will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients across multiple medical-surgical, telemetry, neuro, and observation units. This position includes rotating shifts and weekend responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care following established standards and practices.
• Float between various units, including med/surg, oncology, trauma, and rehabilitation.
• Participate in patient assessments, care planning, and implementation of appropriate interventions.
• Conduct bedside reports and perform quality skin assessments within the first four hours of each shift.
• Complete mandatory training and simulation labs related to Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet patient needs effectively.
• Adhere to hospital policies, particularly regarding sterile field maintenance.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Med/Surg/Telemetry.
• Current certifications in ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) are required; NIHSS certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience working in a Level 1 trauma center is mandatory.
• Ability to float between units without refusal.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Shifts and Schedule

• 12-hour shifts, primarily nights (7 PM – 7:30 AM).
• Must be available for 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule.
• Holidays may be required based on unit needs.
• Schedule is provided 4 weeks in advance and may be altered according to hospital demands.

Orientation and Training

• Complete 2 shifts of orientation: one on the unit and one in ED holds; a third orientation shift may be required as necessary.

This position requires a proactive approach to nursing care and a willingness to adapt to various units and patient populations. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in telemetry nursing and a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care.
