Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Notes

Shifts are typically from 7 am to 5:30 pm, with flexibility to cover evening shifts as needed. This position does not require weekend work, and there is an expectation of being on-call once per month if needed.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive surgical patient care. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures.

• Perform patient assessments to determine appropriate surgical care.
• Create and maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment.
• Educate patients regarding pre and post-operative care.
• Monitor patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the surgical process.
• Integrate and coordinate patient care across the surgical care continuum.
• Experience in vascular and orthopedic surgery is essential.
• This role primarily involves circulating in the operating room, with scrub skills as a valued additional asset.

Patient Population

The candidate will work with a diverse patient population, ranging from pediatric to adult patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of current operating room experience.
• Experience in floating to various specialties, including vascular, ortho, trauma, general surgery, robotics, urology, and ENT.
• Prior travel experience is required.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records is mandatory.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Experience as both a scrub and circulating nurse is essential.
• Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for transportation.
• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required for this role.

Additional Requirements

• Verification of the New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate is required upon submission.
• Completion of a 14-panel drug screening is necessary prior to onboarding.
• New and returning agency staff must have completed training from an approved group for onboarding and clearance.
• COVID-19 vaccinations are encouraged but not mandatory.
