Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Tele

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med Surg/Tele unit specializing in telemetry. The RN will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment and manage patients with various medical conditions.

Shift and Schedule

• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks
• Holiday Requirements: Yes, per team rotation

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Number of Beds: Unit 2 – 24 beds, Unit 3 – 32 beds
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: Days – 1:5; Nights – 1:6
• Common Diagnoses: Respiratory issues, observation pending stress tests, COPD, CIWA, chest pain

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the telemetry unit.
• Monitor patient vital signs and interpret telemetry rhythms.
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and Amiodarone as required.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Coordinate patient care activities with nursing assistants and support staff.
• Educate patients and their families about health conditions and treatment plans.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license in the applicable state.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in telemetry or similar environment.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification.
• Ability to effectively read and interpret telemetry strips independently.

Additional Information

• Patient Care Technicians are available with a staffing ratio of 1:17 to assist with basic patient care tasks.
• Registered Nurses are required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment and collaborate with respiratory therapists as needed.
• Unit orientation will include a total of 3 shifts across multiple locations within the region.
