Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Notes

This position requires working 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a 36-hour guarantee per week. The RN may float to various units within their skill level as needed, with every other weekend as a requirement. There is no on-call duty associated with this role.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of assigned patients during their shift, in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care tailored to age-specific criteria.
• Making clinical judgments based on scientific knowledge and nursing skills.
• Assisting in the planning and direction of patient care and mentoring non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrated commitment to punctuality and attendance for all scheduled shifts.
• Proficiency with cardiac medications, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Heparin, Cardine, Dobutamine, Lasix, and Bumex. Understanding titration and application of these medications is essential.
• Ability to interpret telemetry readings and knowledge of heart rhythms.
• Strong critical thinking skills to recognize changes in patient status and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Knowledge of signs and symptoms of stroke, including the ability to recognize changes in patient status.
• Effective communication skills to facilitate accurate information exchange among the care team.

Certification Requirements

Candidates must possess the following certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) from the American Heart Association
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) Certification

Licensure Requirements

Applicants must hold an active RN license in Ohio or a Compact RN License.
