Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a medical-surgical overflow unit. This role is essential in providing quality care for patients in a fast-paced environment, specifically addressing the needs of overflow patients from the emergency department.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in a 14-bed overflow medical-surgical telemetry unit.
• Assist in monitoring patients’ vital signs and report any changes to RNs or MDs.
• Support patients with feeding tube care, catheter insertion, and other nursing tasks.
• Communicate effectively using SBAR for emergency department patients; verbal reporting is expected for other admissions/transfers.
• Float to care for medical-surgical patients as needed based on staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Current LPN/LVN licensure.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system required.
• Experience with patient care procedures such as blood glucose monitoring, NG tube management, and oxygen administration.
• Previous charge experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Additional Information

• Shift: Day shift, 4×12 hours (07:00 – 19:00).
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend.
• Minimal requests for time off (RTO); additional RTO beyond initial submission is not accommodated.
• Locals are not accepted (75 miles radius); pending licenses are not accepted.

Please note that the LPN may not assume assignments or act as a resource in the overflow unit. They may be utilized as a patient care technician (PCT).
