Job Description
We are seeking skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our dynamic team in a Surgical Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in caring for patients with acute surgical needs and be ready to contribute to our high-acuity environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care for post-operative patients in a Surgical PCU setting.
- Monitor cardiac patients, including proficiency in cardiac monitoring and management of non-titratable cardiac drips.
- Administer IV insulin protocols and manage insulin drips as required.
- Care for patients with chest tubes, fresh tracheostomies, and feeding tubes.
- Utilize and manage external BiPAP/CPAP and perform epidural care.
- Conduct Doppler flap checks and provide care for total laryngectomy patients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in charge nurse responsibilities as needed, with training and resources provided.
- Potentially precept nursing students or have students shadow during assignments.
Requirements
- Current certification in ACLS and BCLS.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a relevant specialty.
- Ability to float to various units, including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU, as necessary.
- Willingness to work every other weekend and potentially consecutive weekends based on operational needs.
- Capacity to accept call-ins and make up shifts as stipulated based on FTE status.
Staffing Ratios
The expected nurse-to-patient staffing ratio is 1:3-4 during assigned shifts.
Work Schedule
This position involves 4×12-hour night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30.
