Registered Nurse – Step Down (Nursing)

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Step Down unit, providing care in a 6-20 bed environment with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1 to 4. The ideal candidate will have experience managing patients with complex medical conditions.

Unit Experience

This role will involve caring for patients with diagnoses including:

• Sepsis
• Heart Failure
• Hypertensive Emergency
• Respiratory Failure
• COPD
• Chronic Kidney Disease
• Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
• Substance Abuse
• Status Epilepticus
• Encephalopathy

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Step Down setting.
• Monitoring vital signs and patient conditions.
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop patient care plans.
• Possibly floating to all Intermediate Care Units (IMCU) as needed, with 5J and 12A being the most common rotations.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must have:

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications.

Holiday Coverage

Mandatory holiday coverage is required. Travelers must be available to work either:

• Thanksgiving Day or the day after Thanksgiving
• Christmas Eve and Christmas Day OR New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
