Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

Delivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff while coordinating care with other disciplines. This role requires critical thinking, professional discretion, and independent judgment.

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
• Acute care facility experience: Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per organizational policy: Required
• AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required

Essential Functions

• Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses and care issues.
• Develops a care plan that prescribes interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
• Implements the care plan, coordinates delivery of care, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
• Evaluates progress toward achieving patient outcomes.
• Identifies patient outcomes and collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare providers to provide care in a safe, healing, humane, and compassionate environment.
• Provides education and learning opportunities for patients, family members, and team members.
• Directly communicates health information to patients, families, and treatment teams.
• Participates in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Delegates tasks appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
