PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and skilled Registered Nurses to join our team in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This position is open to candidates with experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and those who are willing to train in the PACU. The role involves caring for patients recovering from anesthesia, with responsibilities that require critical thinking and a strong clinical background.

Position Details

• Shift: 4×10-hour days with variable start times (between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM, or earlier depending on department needs).
• Weekend Requirements: Must be available to work on weekends with flexibility to be scheduled as needed.
• On-Call Requirements: Possible standby/on-call based on departmental needs; includes one call shift per weeknight or alternating weekends, as well as one holiday on-call if necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of pediatric hospital experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of travel experience.
• Airway management, ventilation, extubation, pain control, cardiac monitoring, fluid and electrolyte management, and discharge instruction experience are essential.
• Critical care experience is required.
• Current California Registered Nurse license.
• Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing program.
• Current BLS/CPR certification (AHA).
• Current PALS certification (AHA).

Unit Information

• PACU: 38 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1-2 in the PACU and 1:3-4 in the discharge area.
