Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This position involves providing comprehensive maternity services and high-risk perinatal care. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on labor and delivery. The role requires collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure the best outcomes for mothers and infants.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
• Monitor and assess maternal and fetal status during labor and delivery.
• Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
• Manage and support patients in postpartum and antepartum settings.
• Provide education and support to families during the perinatal period.
• Work collaboratively with the healthcare team, including surgical and anesthesia staff.
• Participate in float duties as required, supporting postpartum areas as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
• BCLS, ACLS, NRP certifications required.
• AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring certification preferred.
• Experience in facilities handling 200+ deliveries is preferred; candidates with 100-200 deliveries may also be considered.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work weekends and float between units.

Unit Information

The unit provides high-risk perinatal care, including:

• 19 labor and delivery beds
• 10 antepartum beds
• 30 postpartum beds
• 3 operating rooms and 2 PACU spaces
• 7-bay triage unit

Staffing aims for a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 during labor, 1:3 in postpartum with CNA support, and 1:2-3 in antepartum.

Additional Information

This position does not require on-call availability. The healthcare environment promotes a team-centric approach with support staff including surgical techs, CNAs, and health unit coordinators available 24/7.
