Surgical Support Aide

Job Responsibilities

• Notify the supervisor upon arrival by calling 612-863-8070.
• Change into surgical scrubs before starting your shift. Ensure to follow scrubbing protocols, including the use of hairnets and shoe covers.
• Return scrubs to the linen hamper after your shift is completed. Scrub jackets from outside are not permitted.
• Obtain a temporary badge from the Emergency Department if your access badge is not functional.
• Receive training from the supervisor on instrument picking if not already familiar with the process.
• After completing all instrument picks, perform the following tasks:
• Inspect carts for any missing instruments and locate them where possible.
• Organize carts based on the scheduled surgery times.
• Scan items from put-away shelves into their designated locations.
• Check the first pages of the case cart pick list for missing materials, locate, and stock these items on the carts.
• Inquire with materials staff on how to assist in restocking returned supplies.
• Scan all trays and instruments to ensure they are accounted for and track their locations for health and safety reasons.

Job Requirements

• Previous experience in instrument picking for surgical or procedural cases is essential.
• Ability to adhere to all safety and hygiene protocols within the surgical environment.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain the order and integrity of surgical carts.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and materials staff.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stakes environment.

Shift Details

This position requires working a 12-hour shift format. Please note that specific shift days and times will be discussed during the recruitment process.
