Surgical Technologist

This assignment requires a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist with a broad range of expertise in various surgical specialties including Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, and Vascular procedures. Candidates who do not possess comprehensive and current experience in these areas will not be considered.

Shift Information

Shifts are negotiable. Candidates will work between 36-40 hours per week, with options for three 12-hour shifts, four 10-hour shifts, or five 8-hour shifts. Actual shift hours will be determined during the phone interview.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by having instruments and supplies ready.
• Provide assistance during surgery as required.
• Participate in post-operative care including cleaning and sterilizing instruments.
• Be available for on-call shifts approximately every fifth weekend, with 1-2 calls per week, as needed based on department requirements.
• Adhere to a 30-minute response time for all on-call duties.
• Participate in holiday call rotation as needed, based on current patient census and staffing.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of surgical tech experience.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred but not required.
• Excellent critical thinking skills and thorough knowledge of central processing and instrumentation.
• Minimal requests for time off (RTO) preferred.

Candidates must be prepared to demonstrate their expertise in the required specialties and maintain a professional standard throughout their assignments.

Holiday Coverage

Participants will be required to provide coverage during holidays as part of the rotation based on staffing and patient needs.
