PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a stepdown unit. This role requires a strong clinical background, critical thinking abilities, and excellent communication skills to manage diverse patient populations efficiently.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: Every third holiday

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Stepdown
• Number of Beds: 35
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
• Common Diagnoses: Adults and geriatrics, cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, diabetes management, continuous EEG monitoring
• Is Titration Required: Yes
• Common Titration Drips: Cardizem, beta-blockers, seizure medications
• Support Staff: Nurse aides/patient care technicians available with a 1:10 or 2:20 ratio

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 1 year
• Required Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS

Orientation and Training

The first week includes onboarding, followed by 1-2 days of specific orientation on the unit.

Additional Notes

• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments.
• RNs must pass an open book exam based on skills learned during orientation with a minimum score of 90% to avoid termination.
• A driver’s license is required for evaluation purposes.
• RTO (Request Time Off) must be submitted upfront, with restrictions on additional time off approval.
