ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong neuro critical care experience and be proficient in handling complex patient cases. This role requires flexibility in scheduling, with a commitment to service excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule

• 3×12 or 4×12 shifts available
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts are mandatory
• 48-hour contracts available, with overtime billed after 48 hours

Patient Ratios

Typical patient care ratio is 1:2–3. Candidates must be willing to float between units as needed:

• Stepdown Unit
• Emergency Department or Medical-Surgical units for ICU patients

Minimum Requirements

• A minimum of three years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience may be considered
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Active RN license in Virginia or a Compact license required at the time of submission
• Proficiency in Epic software is mandatory

Required Skills

• Strong neuro critical care experience
• Ventilator management expertise
• IV drip titration capabilities
• Telemetry monitoring skills
• Conscious sedation administration
• Dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Emergency response and critical care management skills

Required Certifications

• BLS (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Compliance Requirements

All candidates must have a clean license and background; any past issues with licensure or employment will not be considered. Local RN candidates residing within 50 miles of the region are not eligible for this position.
