Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in an inpatient surgical setting. This role requires a commitment to patient safety and effective communication in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical unit.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions and collaborate with healthcare team members for optimal outcomes.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
• Provide patient education and support to patients and their families.
• Participate in rounds and interdisciplinary meetings to ensure continuity of care.
• Contribute to a positive team environment through collaboration with fellow nurses and staff.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical setting.
• At least one travel assignment completed.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of medical/surgical nursing practices and protocols.
• Ability to adapt to changing assignments and provide flexible care.

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Shift Times: 7 am to 7 pm
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Additional Information

• The unit operates under a strict radius rule for candidates.
• Floating may occur to other units, including Ortho/Neuro and Oncology.
• Must be flexible with changing assignments throughout the shift.
• Patient to nurse ratio typically is 1:6.
• EMR system utilized: Meditech.
• Caring for patients with various diagnoses, including those requiring telemetry monitoring.
