We are seeking a dedicated Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in an acute care setting. This position entails providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse patient population while adhering to best practices and protocols.

Job Details

• Unit Type: Med Surg (Medical Surgical)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Required Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Shift Notes: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. with every other weekend required

Unit Information

• Bed Capacity: 44 beds
• Staffing: 40 staff members
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5, possibly 1:6 for both days and nights
• Staff Support: Nurse Aides available, with a ratio of 1:8, generally 1:10
• Experience with EMR: Meditech preferred but not required
• Orientation: General orientation of 1 week, including EMR training, followed by 2 days of floor-specific orientation
• Floating: Yes, to all acute care and cardio units as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate and comprehensive nursing care to medical surgical patients.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor patient progress and respond to changes in condition.
• Educate patients and families about their health care plans and treatments.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records.
