Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a medical surgical unit. This position involves providing care for patients with acute oncology symptoms and other related health issues.

Job Details

• Unit Type: Med Surg (Medical Surgical)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Schedule: 7 AM to 7 PM with every other weekend required
• Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years in Oncology with at least 1 year of travel experience

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• NIHSS (preferred)
• ONS (required for chemotherapy)

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 29 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Electronic Medical Records: Meditech
• Nurse Aides: Approximately 3 per day
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Rotating with staff
• Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
• Telemetry: Yes, with central monitoring; reading strips is not required
• Floating: Rarely to medical acute units
• Orientation: 3 days of unit-specific orientation
• Common Diagnoses/Patient Types: Acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end-of-life care

Additional Information

Travelers may assist patients who require outpatient treatment that continues on the floor if outpatient services are delayed. Candidates should be prepared to provide information regarding their driver’s license when submitting for this position.
