Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in a stepdown unit specializing in adult oncology and trauma care. This role will involve providing high-quality patient care during 12-hour night shifts, including the administration of medications and management of complex patient needs.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Every Other Weekend: Required

Unit Information

• Unit Type: PCU/Med Surg/Oncology
• Primary Patient Population: Adult Oncology PCU and Trauma PCU patients
• Number of Beds: 18

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate nursing care to patients in a stepdown unit.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Conduct assessments and develop care plans based on patient needs.
• Participate in hourly rounding and bedside shift report to enhance patient experience.
• Titrate insulin, Cardizem drips, and manage chemotherapy, heparin, and protonix administration.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required; strong PCU experience preferred.
• Certifications:
• BLS (AHA) – Required
• ACLS – Required
• Chemotherapy certification preferred, but not required
• First-time travelers accepted? Yes

Orientation

New hires will undergo a two-day unit orientation, which includes passing a clinical exam to ensure competency in skills relevant to patient care.

Floating Requirements

Travelers may be required to float to other Med/Surg and PCU units while maintaining the same level of care.
