Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care and demonstrate proficiency in emergency procedures and protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to patients in a fast-paced emergency department environment
- Triaging patients as they present to the department
- Manage ER holds, ensuring optimal care and monitoring of patients
- Collaborate with ED physicians, mid-level providers, and nursing staff to ensure effective treatment plans
- Administer medications, perform IV insertions, and interpret EKG rhythms
- Assist with moderate sedation and other emergency interventions
- Maintain accurate patient records and collaborate using the Cerner EMR system
- Participate in patient education and support initiatives
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
- Preferred certifications: TNCC, ENPC
- Proficient in IV administration and EKG interpretation
- Ability to work with a diverse patient population, including pediatrics and geriatrics
Work Environment
The Emergency Department features 26 beds and 3 trauma bays, with a fast track treatment area consisting of 4 beds. Security is available 24/7 with law enforcement officers on-site. The department’s resource and support staff include medics, patient care technicians (PCTs), and nurse aides.
Shifts and Scheduling
- Shifts are 12 hours, with varying start times including 7-7, 11-11, and 3-3.
- Self-scheduling available, with a 6-week rotation.
- Weekend commitment is required every third weekend.
- Flexibility to work holidays as needed.
Professional Development
New hires will undergo a department-specific orientation lasting 1-2 shifts with a preceptor to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
