Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical setting and will be proficient in a variety of nursing skills and certifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, managing dysrhythmias as necessary.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including blood products and IV medications.
- Manage care for patients with colostomies, ileostomies, and feeding tubes.
- Perform pre and post-operative care for patients undergoing hemodialysis and other surgical procedures.
- Utilize various airway management techniques (BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC) and oxygen administration.
- Implement isolation precautions and maintain wound care practices as needed.
- Coordinate with Rapid Response and Code teams during emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry nursing role.
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred.
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring, code blue protocols, and post-operative care.
- Charge experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to float to other units if required.
- Proficient in electronic documentation and medication administration systems.
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: Nights from 18:45 to 07:15.
- Flexible scheduling options: 36 or 48-hour shifts.
- Contracts available for 13 to 26 weeks.
- RTO: Maximum of 7 days.
- Every other weekend scheduling required.
- Mandatory participation in the Storm Team or Hurricane Team as needed during catastrophic events.
Patient Population
The patient diagnoses include, but are not limited to: diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, gastrointestinal bleeding, anemia, hip fracture, congestive heart failure (CHF), urinary tract infections (UTI), and various surgical recovery cases.
Orientation & Onboarding
- 24 hours of unit orientation provided.
- Scrubs: Navy Blue or white.
