Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care and telemetry and be committed to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient care for individuals in the Med/Surg and Telemetry units.
- Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias, and manage telemetry monitoring.
- Utilize Rapid Response and Code teams effectively.
- Provide care for patients with bowel obstructions, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube management, and renal failure.
- Administer blood products and perform central line draws, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and PICC line management.
- Initiate and maintain IV therapy, including insulin and heparin protocols.
- Manage chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management.
- Conduct oral suctioning and oxygen administration as required.
- Adhere to isolation precautions and utilize PPE effectively.
- Provide wound care and manage wound vac devices as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a Med/Surg/Telemetry setting.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in practice state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required.
- Charge experience and additional certifications such as ACLS are preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic documentation systems is advantageous.
- Experience with patient populations including those with diabetes, dementia, COVID, pneumonia, and various surgical recovery cases.
Work Schedule
The scheduled shifts will be nights from 18:45 to 07:15, with options for either 36 or 48-hour work weeks. A commitment to every other weekend is required, and there is a possibility of floating to different units within the organization.
Contract Details
This position is available for 13-26 week contracts. A maximum of 7 days of requested time off is permitted, and candidates must be able to work holidays as needed. Training includes a comprehensive 24-hour orientation program.
Additional Information
Staff members may be assigned to work with the Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters.
Dress Code
All staff are expected to wear navy blue or white scrubs while on duty.
