Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will provide rehabilitative and skilled treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders. This role involves working under the supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist, utilizing evidence-based practices to ensure effective patient care.

Responsibilities

• Implement treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist, incorporating various techniques such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, ambulation support, and the use of assistive devices.
• Monitor and assess patient progress, effectively documenting outcomes and communicating necessary adjustments to treatment plans in conjunction with the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, their families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding physical disorders and rehabilitation strategies.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all treatments provided, patient records, and required regulatory information in the electronic documentation system.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care conferences, utilization reviews, and rehabilitation discussions.
• Assist in facilitating student supervision in collaboration with the Physical Therapist.
• Engage in ongoing professional development through participation in required in-services, training, and conferences.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, or recent graduates with Level II clinical experience.
• Experience in long term care (LTC) or rehabilitation settings is required.
• Current PTA licensure is required.
• Ability to adhere to APTA standards and state practice acts, ensuring ethical and professional conduct.
