ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a specialized care unit, providing treatment for a wide range of critical conditions.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized care for patients with diagnoses such as DKA, Sickle Cell, Sepsis, Respiratory Distress, Pneumonia, Heart Failure, and Stroke.
- Utilize skills in IV start, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, and titration of cardiac drips.
- Participate in rapid response team activities and manage patients requiring feeding tube support and heparin protocols.
- Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high-quality patient care.
- Float to Med/Surg units as needed, maintaining a patient ratio of 1:6.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an ICU setting. First-time travelers are welcome.
- Certifications: Current ACLS and BCLS certifications are required.
- Preferred Skills: Experience with MS/Tele, titration of vasoactive drips, care of ventilated patients, and wound care, including wound vac management.
- Preferred Certification: NHISS certification is a plus.
Job Details
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 for ICU, 1:6 for Med/Surg.
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15).
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling available; shifts must be balanced/approved by staff.
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
- Unit Orientation: Comprehensive 36-hour orientation program provided.
- Uniform: Scrubs required in navy or navy and white.
Special Procedures and Equipment
- Unit primarily focused on acute and intermediate critical care.
- Utilization of Bipap, Cpap, and Optiflow as needed for patient care.
