Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Information

8-hour shifts; variable start time between 0600-0700, Monday to Friday; no weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities.

Position Description

The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive care by evaluating the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients. Responsibilities include advocacy for patients and their families while utilizing professional nursing skills and judgment to implement effective care strategies. The role focuses on patient assessments, communication, and coordination of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to the individual needs of patients through observation and interaction.
• Implement nursing care and address identified problems using professional judgment.
• Effectively communicate patient assessments and care plans to relevant personnel.
• Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures including labs, radiology, and EKG; proficient in IV therapy.
• Accurately transcribe and implement physician orders while efficiently admitting patients to the surgical center.
• Document patient clinical records accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with surgical protocols.
• Provide patient and family education with appropriate instructions and information.
• Manage supply usage according to policy to contain costs while maintaining quality patient care.
• Assist with housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a clean patient environment.
• In the PACU, use critical thinking to monitor patients’ conditions, manage pain control, and coordinate with the surgical team as necessary.
• Understand the transfer process for patients and assist during transitions to other medical facilities.
• Function as a float nurse when needed, maintaining effective communication and assisting staff with breaks and lunch coverage.
• Work as assigned in pain management and eye laser procedure areas, assisting with necessary tasks and ensuring safety standards.
• Familiarity with anesthesia supplies and emergency protocols, including knowledge of crash cart and medication locations.
• Participate in committee meetings, contributing ideas for improvements and seeking guidance as required.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
