Registered Nurse (RN) – Critical Care

Shift Information

Night Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM

Experience Requirements

• Knowledge and recovery of post cardio thoracic surgery fresh out of the operating room.
• Experience with IMPELLA, Balloon Pump, Arctic Sun, TABLO XT/CRRT, and high acuity patients with multiple comorbidities and drips.
• Previous experience with Epic preferred.

Job Summary

The competent nurse in this clinical setting practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role involves providing both routine and complex nursing care, with a focus on developing long-range goals and plans. The nurse will also manage and cope with contingencies in clinical nursing while appropriately assigning tasks and delegating responsibilities to other caregivers as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet expectations consistent with applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their practice level.
• Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of treatments.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers.

Education and Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred; however, new graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• RN License in the state of TX or compact.

Position Requirements

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, with initial onboarding requirements validated through successful completion of designated competencies.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.

Work Schedule

Full-time position with hours from 7 PM to 7 AM.
