Echocardiogram Technician Registered
Job Summary
The Echocardiogram Technician Registered is responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency in conducting various cardiac exams and collaborating with multiple hospital departments to ensure smooth operations within the echocardiography unit.
Responsibilities
- Perform 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams proficiently.
- Coordinate activities with interrelated departments, including scheduling exams and ensuring accurate billing information.
- Assist cardiologists during exam dictations by providing relevant measurements and information for diagnosis.
- Manage the delivery, pickup, and distribution of dictations promptly.
- Address patients’ needs during exams and report any changes in patient conditions to the physician or nurse.
- Order and maintain echo supplies, keeping examination rooms clean and well-stocked.
- Log patient exams and file records efficiently within the department.
- Participate in departmental and hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities.
- Maintain the quality control of echocardiography equipment and coordinate repairs as necessary.
- Stay updated on new developments in the field of Echocardiography and seek mentorship from cardiologists.
- Assist with other cardiac procedures as required.
Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a two-year allied health education program related to patient care, preferred candidates include diagnostic medical sonographers, radiologic technologists, and respiratory therapists.
Certification/Licenses
- A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible or comparable national accreditation is required.
- State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License.
- BLS certification issued through the American Heart Association.
Skills

- Manual dexterity necessary for executing echocardiograms.
Experience
- Two years of experience performing echocardiograms is preferred.
Work Schedule
This position offers a full-time work schedule of 4 days per week, totaling 10-hour shifts each day.
