Speech Pathologist Therapist (SLP)

An inpatient acute rehabilitation facility is seeking a part-time Speech Pathologist Therapist (SLP) to provide specialized care to individuals recovering from injuries or illnesses. The role focuses on supporting patients in their rehabilitation journey to regain independence and improve quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized speech therapy interventions tailored to patients’ specific needs.
• Assess and evaluate patients’ speech, language, and swallowing abilities.
• Develop and implement therapeutic plans that address the unique challenges faced by patients with neurological conditions, strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other related diagnoses.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes and ensure comprehensive care.
• Educate patients and families on effective communication techniques and strategies for improved function.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed therapist with a degree from an accredited university and program.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in inpatient rehabilitation is required.
• Preferred experience in treating neurological conditions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to care.
• Ability to adapt to the varying needs of patients and their families.

Working Conditions

• Shifts include days and weekends with guaranteed hours.
• Patient ratios are typically 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1.
• The role requires the use of equipment such as Hoyer lifts and lite gait systems.
