Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg Telemetry team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various clinical areas and possess strong critical thinking skills. This role requires commitment to patient care and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with diverse medical conditions.
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and perform telemetry monitoring.
- Utilize rapid response and code teams effectively.
- Manage care for patients with bowel obstructions, colostomies, and ileostomies.
- Conduct pre and post-hemodialysis management and renal failure treatment.
- Administer blood products and perform central line blood draws.
- Manage peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and PICC line care.
- Start and maintain IVs, including administration of heparin and insulin.
- Handle chest tubes and be proficient with BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula management.
- Perform oxygen administration and compliance with isolation precautions.
- Provide wound care and management using wound vacs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a relevant area.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
- Charge experience is preferred, along with ACLS certification.
- Proficient in electronic documentation and telemetry monitoring.
- Experience in managing patients with various diagnoses, including diabetes, dementia, and respiratory illnesses.
Working Conditions
- Night shift: 18:45 – 07:15, with a ratio of 1:6.
- Contract duration of 13-20 weeks with potential for 36 or 48 hours per week.
- Must be flexible to float to designated areas as needed.
- Every other weekend availability required.
- Participation in storm and hurricane response teams as necessary.
Unit Orientation
A comprehensive orientation will be provided to familiarize staff with unit operations and protocols, lasting 24 hours.
Scrubs
Uniforms required: Navy blue or white scrubs.

Additional Notes
