Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background with demonstrable expertise in high-risk obstetrics and emergency situations.

Position Details

• Start Date: ASAP
• Orientation: Every Monday
• Shift Schedule: Nights 6p-6a / Days 6a-6p
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Floating Requirement: May float to Emergency Department or Med/Surg if experienced

Unit Information

• Bed Capacity:
  • 7 Labor & Delivery (L&D) beds
  • 2 Triage beds
  • 10 Postpartum beds
• Birth Volume: 1-3 births per day, approximately 830 births per year
• Nurse Ratios: Typically 1:2

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in Labor and Delivery
• Certifications Required:
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NRP
  • Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Essential Skills:
  • Proficiency in fetal monitoring and appropriate actions for fetal distress
  • Experience caring for patients with pre-eclampsia
  • Capability to manage emergencies until the provider arrives due to absence of in-house obstetricians
  • C-section experience required

• Respiratory Therapists available 24/7
• Patient Care Technicians
• Health Unit Secretary
• OB Scrub Technicians

Call Requirements

Participate in a call rotation of one shift per 4-week schedule.

Additional Information

Candidates with a strong emphasis on assessment skills and experience dealing with high-risk patients are highly desirable. Flexibility to float to other hospital units, particularly Med/Surg, will be beneficial.
