Operating Room Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

The Operating Room Nurse plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care within the operating room environment. This position requires critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to effectively anticipate and plan for patient care needs during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists, to ensure optimal patient care.
• Prepare the operating room by ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available and functioning.
• Scrub in on surgical procedures, assisting physicians as required.
• Communicate effectively with families regarding the patient’s status and surgical process.
• Update and maintain physician preference cards to reflect current practices.
• Supervise and support personnel providing patient care in the operating room.
• Ensure adherence to state nurse practice standards, regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a preference for prior travel nursing experience.
• Ability to maintain effective communication and teamwork within a dynamic surgical environment.

Schedule

This position typically involves a 5-day work week with scheduled hours from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Note that ending times may vary depending on the length and complexity of surgical procedures, and a 30-minute lunch break is included.

Additional Requirements

Call requirements include availability for 6 to 8 days per month.
