Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse with expertise in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing for a challenging position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care, utilizing advanced clinical skills, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in accordance with established standards.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes effectively.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Interpret dysrhythmias and manage telemetry monitoring.
• Assist in pre and post hemodialysis management.
• Perform colostomy and feeding tube care and management.
• Conduct IV interventions, including IV insulin protocols and blood product administration.
• Utilize isolation precautions and wound care techniques.
• Participate in Rapid Response Team activities when needed.
• Demonstrate proficiency in using medical technology systems such as Pyxis and Epic.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Medical/Surgical or Telemetry setting.
• Accepts 1st-time travelers; locals are also accepted.
• Current BCLS certification is required.
• Preferred skills include management of dysrhythmias and experience with telemetry unit monitoring.

Work Schedule

• Target patient-nurse ratio: 1:5-6.
• Shifts: 12-hour night shifts; flexibility for 36 or 48-hour contracts.
• Contract duration: 13-26 weeks.
• Weekend shifts requirement: 12-16 shifts per contract.

Additional Information

Contract staff may be assigned to work as part of a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters. RTO is limited to 7 days maximum, with floating requirements.

Patient Population

Common diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fractures, alongside typical medical-surgical diagnoses.

Orientation Process

• 24 hours of unit orientation is provided.
• Hospital orientation occurs in the first week of employment; candidates must be available for daily classes.

Required Attire

Navy and white scrubs are to be worn while on duty.
