Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in an Intermediate Care Unit. The ideal candidate should possess strong clinical skills and a commitment to high-quality care for patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients experiencing respiratory distress and unstable hemodynamics.
• Manage patients post-rapid response team intervention and handle various medical conditions, including withdrawal and GI bleeds.
• Administer and monitor vasoactive drips, central and peripheral lines, and blood products.
• Utilize telemetry systems to monitor patient heart rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias.
• Engage with Rapid Response Teams and implement protocols for IV insulin and Heparin.
• Oversee the care of patients with chest tubes, BIPAP, and tracheostomy management.
• Comply with isolation precautions and other safety measures as necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a Telemetry or Intermediate Care Unit setting.
• Strong foundation in managing arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips.
• Proficient in telemetry, dysrhythmia management, and conscious sedation.
• Minimal certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, NIH.
• Experience in blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, and rapid response interventions.
• Ability to perform EKG readings and interpret results.

Work Environment

• Target nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4.
• Conducting work during 12-hour night shifts.
• Floating to a sister unit may be required as needed.
• Weekend work is expected every other weekend.

Special Equipment and Systems

• Utilize bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup.
• Experience with Pyxis and Epic systems is preferred.
• Work with various medications and infusion protocols, including Cardizem and Levophed.

Additional Information

Hospital orientation is required during the first week of employment, and candidates must be available for daily classes. Additionally, an EKG test must be passed prior to commencing this role.
