Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and proactive Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift position from 7 PM to 7 AM. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and the ability to provide comprehensive care to our patients.

Unit Information

The unit is equipped with 16 beds, and the nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. RNs are expected to read their own telemetry strips as there are no dedicated telemetry technicians on the unit. There will be two clinical techs available to assist with patient care. Common types of patients include:

• Stroke / Acute ischemic stroke
• Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)
• Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)
• Subdural hematoma (SDH)
• Brain tumors
• Cerebral edema / Increased intracranial pressure (ICP)
• Hydrocephalus
• Acute respiratory failure
• Sepsis / Septic shock
• Pneumonia
• ARDS (Acute respiratory distress syndrome)
• COPD exacerbation
• Asthma exacerbation
• Acute heart failure / Pulmonary edema
• Acute kidney injury (AKI)
• Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS)
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Acute liver failure
• Severe electrolyte abnormalities

Responsibilities

Nurses are required to manage a variety of treatments and medications for patients. Drips that can be titrated include:

• Norepinephrine (Levophed)
• Epinephrine
• Phenylephrine (Neo-Synephrine)
• Dopamine

Additionally, mechanical ventilators, high-flow nasal cannulas (HFNC), and noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP) are utilized in patient care.

Qualifications

• Must pass the ECG exam on day 2 (pass/fail).
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience is required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• Experience in cardiac care is not required.

Work Expectations

Nurses are expected to work every other weekend and cover one major holiday and one minor holiday per year. Major holidays include Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving Day/Day After, while minor holidays include Labor Day, Fourth of July, and Memorial Day.

Scrubs

Navy blue scrubs are required for this position.

Cancellation Policy

Please note that there is a cancellation policy in place allowing for two shift cancellations per 12 weeks or three shifts per 13 weeks without penalty.
