ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role requires a strong background in acute and critical care nursing, addressing complex health issues for patients experiencing cardiac and respiratory conditions.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Days
• Shift Hours: 0645-1915
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• On-call Status: May be placed on call for low census, with a 30-minute response time required

Unit Information

• Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
• Number of Beds: 16
• Patient Ratios: 1:2
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Common Diagnoses: Cardiac and Respiratory
• Experience Required: Acute Care and Critical Care nursing
• Nursing Responsibilities: Titration of IV drips (e.g., Levophed, Propofol, Insulin, Dopamine, Neosynephrine, Precedex)
• Support Staff: Charge Nurse and House Supervisor available; no nurse aids on the unit
• Confirmations: Hospitalist or Intensivist in-house; Respiratory Therapy available 24/7

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU or similar setting
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
• Ability to work effectively in high-acuity environments and manage complex patient care

Additional Information

Orientation for the unit will consist of 2 shifts, and training will be provided on the Meditech EHR system.

Dress Code: Scrub colors include black, cocoa brown, charcoal grey, navy blue, and khaki.
