Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to adult and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical setting. The nurse will work as part of a collaborative team while adhering to safety and quality standards. This role includes potential assignments to COVID-19 patients and requires availability during holidays and inclement weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and provide care for general medical and surgical patients.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols.
• Utilize EPIC for documentation and medication management.
• Participate in the Inclement Weather Team, reporting to work during severe weather and emergency situations.
• Attend unit team meetings, scheduled monthly, with additional sessions for night staff.
• Assist with procedures such as heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high flow oxygen management.
• Provide support and care based on patient needs, including the potential for patients requiring respiratory support.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Experience as a traveler is accepted; first-time travelers are welcome.
• BCLS certification is required.
• EPIC experience is mandatory.
• CPI and charge nurse experience are preferred.

Work Schedule

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted.
• Travelers will be assigned to work every other weekend.
• Must be available to work during holidays.

Orientation and Training

A comprehensive 24-hour orientation will be provided to familiarize the nurse with unit protocols and procedures. Additionally, passing EKG testing is required prior to the start of the position.

Patient Demographics

The unit will primarily serve adult and geriatric patients with a daily average census of approximately 43 patients.

Unit Details

• No PCU-level patients are on this unit.
• Patient care tools include PYXIS for medication management and SBAR for communication.
