Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in the Birthing Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum (LDRP) nursing and be comfortable providing care for a diverse range of patients, including those with high-risk pregnancies.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Birthing Center/Mother Baby
• L&D Beds: 13
• OR Suites for C-Sections: 2
• Triage Beds: 2
• Postpartum Beds: 14
• Average Births: 170-190 per month, with a total of 2,104 deliveries in 2025
• Staffing Ratios: 1:2 in Labor and Delivery; 1:3-4 for couplets

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
• Assist with deliveries independently and circulate during C-sections.
• Transition newborns and facilitate bonding between mother and baby.
• Monitor and titrate intravenous (IV) drips, including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin.
• Collaborate with an in-house OBGYN/hospitalist and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNP) for patient care.
• Participate in unit-based orientation and complete necessary compliance training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing, specifically LDRP.
• Current BLS Certification and NRP Certification required.
• Preferred certifications include Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM).
• Ability to read telemetry strips and respond to patient needs effectively.
• Ability to function in both Labor and Delivery and Postpartum settings as needed.

Schedule and Work Requirements

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday days)
• Holiday Requirements: Rotating schedule with permanent staff
• Response time when placed on standby: 45 minutes
