Cardiac and Vascular Radiologic Technologist
We are seeking a skilled Cardiac and Vascular Radiologic Technologist to perform, assist, and complete radiographic examinations in a cardiovascular lab environment. This role involves operating advanced radiographic equipment to produce digital images and assisting in various interventional procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in radiologic technology and excellent patient care skills.
Job Summary
The Cardiac and Vascular Radiologic Technologist will operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system during cardiac catheterization. This position requires the technician to interact closely with patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding throughout the procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce radiographs of the cardiovascular system during examinations.
- Position and immobilize patients on the examining table according to established protocols.
- Assist physicians with specialized procedures and exams, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Input technical parameters into the computer system as per protocol.
- Manipulate and position x-ray tubes as instructed by physicians during procedures.
- Administer contrast media injections into patients’ blood vessels before imaging.
- Activate equipment such as fluoroscopes and motion picture cameras to aid in producing diagnostic images.
- Explain procedures to patients and provide comprehensive discharge instructions.
- Monitor patient vital signs and alert physicians to any changes during imaging procedures.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Preferred experience in a catheterization lab or with special procedures.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification preferred.
- Radiologic Technologist (RT) license in the state of practice required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor is required.
