Sterile Processing Technician
We are seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. This role involves the processing and sterilization of surgical and hospital instruments and equipment, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. The technician will work collaboratively in a dynamic healthcare environment to support patient care needs.
Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the following:
- Decontaminating and processing instruments, including compiling instrument sets and accurately recording counts.
- Sterilizing instruments, trays, basins, and ensuring the appropriate exposure and dry times are followed.
- Preparing instruments for immediate use sterilization as required.
- Maintaining a clean and orderly environment by regularly cleaning counters, sinks, and autoclaves.
- Assisting with room turnover and terminal cleaning within the operating room as needed.
- Assisting in the preparation and picking of supplies and instruments for upcoming procedures.
- Conducting daily diagnostic testing on sterilization equipment and evaluating instruments for functionality and safety.
- Providing reprocessing services for ancillary departments when necessary and tracking loaner instruments.
- Maintaining records of biological test results, including the Biological Incubator.
- Providing technical services in the operating room, recovery, and outpatient settings as directed.
Job Requirements
Education and Work Experience
- High School Diploma or GED: Required
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications
- Sterile Processing Technician certification: Required
Essential Functions
- Maintaining compliance with all safety protocols and organizational policies.
- Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and reporting to the perioperative services manager.
- Performing any other job-related duties as assigned.
