Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) role involves providing critical respiratory care within the Emergency Department. The position requires a proactive approach to patient management, with responsibilities including but not limited to the following:

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory care treatments for patients in the Emergency Department.
• Perform evaluations and assessments to determine appropriate interventions and care plans.
• Manage airway care and assist in the initiation of ventilator support as necessary.
• Conduct lab draws and nasopharyngeal swabbing (preferred but not mandatory).
• Assist in patient triage arrival during night shifts.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.

Shift Information

This position requires working night shifts, specifically three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30. Weekend coverage is required every third week.

Guaranteed Hours

The position may involve schedule adjustments, with the possibility of canceled shifts without penalty. Guaranteed minimum hours do not include on-call hours.

RTO Restrictions

Requests for time off should ideally not exceed 5 days.

Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
• Strong understanding of respiratory therapeutic procedures and protocols.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
