Medical Surgical Nurse

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Surgical Nurse to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a fast-paced medical-surgical unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate and comprehensive nursing care to patients.
• Monitor patient conditions and maintain accurate patient records.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Assist with patient education and discharge planning.
• Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

Shift Details

This role requires working 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with guaranteed hours of 48 per week. Occasional weekend and holiday shifts are required, and flexibility in assignments during shifts is necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, including at least 1 travel assignment.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA).
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) preferred.
• Experience with electronic medical records, specifically Meditech.
• Ability to float to other units such as Ortho/Neuro, Oncology, and Acute Care as needed.

Additional Information

• Patient-nurse ratio: 1:6, with support from Nurse Aides.
• Experience with monitored telemetry patients is a plus.
• Experience with adult patients requiring BIPAP or CPAP is required.
• Staff will rotate holidays with permanent team members.
• Common diagnoses may include a variety of medical-surgical conditions.
