Surgical Technologist

Shift Information

Full-time position, Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with occasional call until 7:00 PM. No overnight call and no weekend shifts.

Position Overview

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for performing essential functions within the surgical area and providing patient care in accordance with established standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Successful graduation from a Surgical Technology program accredited by CAAHEP.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Experience in the field is preferred, but not required.

Employment & Health Requirements

The following documentation must be provided no later than five business days prior to the start date:

• Resume
• Two recent employment references
• Online verification of licensure or certification, including expiration date and any disciplinary actions
• BLS certification card (both sides)
• Immunization records, including:
  • MMR (Mumps, Rubeola & Rubella) – either two doses or positive titers
  • Varicella – positive titer or two vaccinations
  • Polio
  • Hepatitis B Series – vaccine, titer, or signed declination
  • Current TDaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis) – dated within the last 10 years
  • Flu vaccination – required during flu season
• Recent (within one year) two-step Mantoux test or QuantiFERON Gold test. If positive, a chest x-ray result must be included.
• Proof of physical examination conducted within one year of the start date.
• Negative 10 panel drug screen completed within one month of the start date.
• Respiratory Fit Test – completed within one year of the start date (can be provided if not available).
• Criminal background check from all states of residence and practice within the past seven years.
• National and/or State Sex Offender registry check.
• GSA (EPLS) and OIG check – conducted within 30 days of the start date.
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certificates (for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse).
• Completion of CareLearning education modules (further instructions will be provided). Mandatory Reporter certification will be included in modules if the candidate is not already certified.
