Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift position in a telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will have experience providing high-quality patient care and managing complex clinical situations.

Shift Details

• Shift: Night shift (6 PM – 6 AM)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (four weekend shifts in a four-week schedule)
• Holidays: Worked in with permanent staff rotation

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Bed Capacity: Unit divided into a 300 unit with 14 beds and a main unit with 44 beds
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Common Diagnoses: Surgical, orthopedic, medical, cardiac-focused (post-cath, post-pacemaker, CABG, etc.)

Essential Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients in a telemetry setting
• Administer medications and manage intravenous drips as required, including amiodarone, heparin, cardizem, fixed-rate insulin, nitroglycerin, and dopamine
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide comprehensive patient care
• Float between the 300 unit and the main unit as necessary
• Read and interpret cardiac strips

Qualifications

• Current ACLS and BLS Certification
• NIHSS Certification
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in telemetry nursing or similar clinical settings

Additional Information

• Orientation: 6 hours of floor-specific orientation provided
• Equipment: Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Philips telemetry systems preferred
• Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7
• Pharmacy: Available 24/7 (with limited after-hours services)
• Support Staff: Nurse aides available on various shifts
