Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a dynamic healthcare team in a labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum unit. The ideal candidate will support a diverse patient population, facilitating excellent maternal and newborn care.

Unit Overview

• 8-bed labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum unit
• 12 private rooms including 2 triage rooms for pregnant patients
• Level 1 nursery with an average daily census of 4
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1:3-4 for couplets or moms; 1:1 for laboring patients; 1:3 for gynecologic surgical patients

Responsibilities

• Assist in antepartum care and procedures, including sterile speculum exams, NST, and triage of obstetrical patients.
• Manage labor and delivery processes, including assisting with deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and recognizing abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• Provide neonatal care immediately after delivery, including APGAR scores and thermoregulation.
• Deliver postpartum care and support, encompassing breastfeeding assistance and wound assessment.
• Administer medications and IV therapies, ensuring compliance with hospital protocols.
• Float to other units as needed and provide support for 1:1 confused patients.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in Labor and Delivery
• ACLS, BLS, NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Advanced preferred or NCC certification
• Advanced EFM or Intermediate EFM certification within the last 2 years
• STABLE certification preferred

Schedule

Flexible scheduling with rotating shifts, including every other weekend. Night shift hours consist of 3×12-hour shifts (18:30 – 07:00).

Scrubs provided for all staff. The unit is supported by a manager or supervisor during all shifts, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment.
