ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. As an ICU nurse, you will provide high-quality care for critically ill adult patients, ensuring their safety and comfort during their stay. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment while adhering to established protocols and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for critically ill adult patients in the ICU.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and medical conditions, adjusting care as necessary.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the medical team.
• Assist with patient care activities in the Med-Surg unit when ICU census is low.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan and implement patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems.

Work Schedule

This position requires a 36-hour workweek, consisting of three 12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00. Weekend shifts are mandatory, with six weekend shifts required during each schedule period.

Qualifications

• Current licenses in the state of practice.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• A minimum of one year of ICU experience is required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a rural critical access hospital environment.
• Competence in care for critically ill adult patients.

Additional Information

The ICU nurse will not serve in a Charge Nurse role. Staff will be assigned to care for ICU patients based on competency. Floating between units may be necessary based on patient census and needs. This role does not require on-call shifts.

Work Environment

This position is located within a short-term acute care facility with a total of 49 staffed beds, designated as a Level IV Trauma Center. Staff can take advantage of free parking in any unrestricted area.
