SCU/ED Float Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced SCU/ED Float Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care in a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills to care for patients across various units, specifically focusing on emergency department needs. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and support comprehensive patient care in a level 3 trauma center.

Shift Details

• Shifts: Nights (1900-0730)
• Schedule: 3×12 or 4×12 accepted
• Weekend Requirement: Up to every other weekend
• On-Call: May be placed on call as needed

Responsibilities

The SCU/ED Float RN will be responsible for:

• Performing cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
• Interpreting and managing dysrhythmias.
• Providing care for multi-system organ failure cases.
• Obtaining and interpreting 12 lead EKGs.
• Managing thermoregulation in patients with hypothermia and hyperthermia.
• Administering IV insulin protocols and handling GI surgery cases.
• Providing care for chronic and acute renal failure patients.
• Accessing ports, managing arterial lines, administering blood products, and caring for central lines and PICC lines.
• Administering continuous IV paralytics and sedation, as well as emergency medications.
• Monitoring neurological cases, including CVA and acute stroke management.
• Assisting with respiratory/thoracic care, including BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilator care.
• Observing and adhering to infection and isolation precautions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
• ACLS and BCLS certification required; CCRN preferred.
• Experience with IV therapy, medication administration, and various emergency protocols.
• Skills in phlebotomy, managing surgical wounds, and using wound vacs.

Additional Information

• Daily census average: 5 patients in 8 rooms, 10 beds.
• No block schedules; flexible scheduling within limits will be accommodated.
• Locals are not accepted; candidates must reside outside of a 100-mile radius.
• Guaranteed hours are subject to cancellation by the client for up to 3 shifts without penalties.
