Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown Unit

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown Unit, providing high-quality care in a dynamic environment. This position involves working with a diverse patient population and requires a commitment to excellence in nursing practice.

Job Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
• Holiday Requirements: 2 summer and 3 winter
• Floating Requirements: May be required to float to other units

Unit Information

• Unit Name: 4IC PCU
• Number of Beds: 32
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4-6 depending on acuity
• Common Diagnoses: Post-catherization patients, chest tubes, tele-monitoring

Responsibilities

• Manage sheaths and TR bands for post-catherization patients.
• Titrate medication drips (excluding pressors, paralytics, and TPA).
• Provide care for chest tubes and other medical populations requiring monitoring.
• Read tele monitoring strips and respond to any changes in rhythms.
• Collaborate with respiratory technicians on CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow treatments.
• Participate in self-scheduling, with the understanding that shifts may be adjusted for a balanced workload.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Current certifications in ACLS and BLS (AHA) are required.
• TAVR experience is preferred, with the ability to manage complex cardiac patients.

Additional Information

• Charge Nurse will oversee operations and may take an assignment during shifts.
• Patient care technicians will be available to support nursing staff, with approximately 1 tech for every 15 patients.
• Required orientation includes 1-2 shifts specific to unit procedures and protocols.
