Acute Travel RN: OR – Open Heart

Position Overview

This is an opportunity for a skilled Acute Travel Registered Nurse specializing in the Operating Room, with a focus on Open Heart procedures. Candidates should possess advanced skills in CABGs, thoracoscopies, lung resections, and preferably robotic lung experience. Open Heart experience is mandatory.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform nursing duties in the operating room, specifically in cardiothoracic surgeries.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal care.
• Participate in pre-operative and post-operative evaluations and care.
• Float to the main OR as needed.
• Be available for weekday call and weekend call as required.

Schedule

This position is scheduled Monday through Friday, with call requirements during the evenings and weekends. Flexibility to accommodate the schedule is essential as evening and weekend calls are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in Pennsylvania.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an operating room setting, specifically with Open Heart procedures.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI/HWC.
• Preferred experience includes charge roles, level 1 trauma experience, and robotic surgery experience.
• Strong critical thinking and effective communication skills.

Unit Information

• Operational environment includes a Level 1 Trauma Center.
• Patient ratios are generally 1:1, allowing for focused patient care.
• Utilizes EPIC as the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

Orientation

Orientation for new hires will occur weekly on Mondays.

Additional Notes

All candidates must pass comprehensive background screenings prior to starting the position. Weekend open-heart cases are limited, and call requirements are rarely utilized. This coverage is primarily for urgent situations that may arise.
